Andrew Goodsall

Healthcare Analyst

Andrew Goodsall has specialised in Australian Healthcare equity research since 1999, and rated as the number one sector analyst in each of the major surveys since 2004. Prior to joining MST Marquee in 2017, he was with UBS and Citi. This followed pivotal roles in healthcare which included Chief of Staff to the Healthcare Minister in the reformist Kennett Government in Victoria in the 1990’s. Andrew has serves on several healthcare boards, including the NSW Northern Sydney Local Health District (7 major public hospitals; $1.6b budget) and previously the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. Andrew’s qualifications include; BA (Hons in Politics), MBA, Grad Dip Asian Studies.

Dan Hurren

Healthcare Analyst

Dan joined MST Marquee in 2021 to partner with senior healthcare analyst Andrew Goodsall. Dan and Andrew were the #1 ranked healthcare research team from 2004 to 2014 at Citi and UBS. Dan moved to Singapore in 2014 where he was head of the UBS Australian Sales Desk for six years. Before his equities career, Dan spent 15 years as an Australian Regular Army Officer serving in Australia and offshore. Dan has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New South Wales and a Masters of International Studies from Sydney University. Dan Hurren is a representative of Health Finance Group Pty Ltd, who is an authorised representative of MST Financial.

Craig Woolford

Consumer Discretionary & Retail Analyst

Craig Woolford was most recently the Head of Research for Citi Australia/NZ. He led a team of more than 40 staff responsible for analysing stocks, interest rates and the economy. Craig was also the lead Consumer Analyst at Citi, leading the team that ranked top three with clients in both Retail and Food & Beverages. Craig was at Citi for 16 years and prior to that was at CommSec as a lead analyst on the Consumer sector for four years. He is regularly cited in industry journals and the media for his insights about the state of Australian retailing and performance of the major companies across the retail and food and beverages sectors. Craig also has experience in funds management and debt capital markets.

Fraser McLeish

Telco & Media / Online Analyst

Fraser is Head of Australian Media, Online and Telecommunications coverage at MST Marquee. Fraser was Head of Media and Telecommunications at Credit Suisse Australia from 2013-2018 and had a similar role with ABN AMRO/RBS from 2003-2013. Prior to that Fraser covered the UK and European Telecommunications sector at Investec in London. Fraser qualified as a UK Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen in 1997 and spent 3 years working in the telecommunications industry as a Business Development Manager with First Telecom in London. He has an MA in Economics from St Andrews University.

David Gibson, CFA

Senior Research Analyst

David Gibson was most recently Chief Investment Advisor for Astris Advisory Japan which he co-Founded in 2018. Prior to that, he was Head of Research for Macquarie Securities Japan where he led a team of 15 research staff covering 200 Japanese companies. In Japan, David was also the Internet and Games analyst covering stocks like SoftBank Group, Rakuten, and Nintendo. Prior to 17 years in Japan, David was at Macquarie Securities USA for 5 years covering EU/US media. Before David’s 18 years at Macquarie, he had buy-side roles for 14 years in Melbourne at HSBC Asset Management and National Mutual. David is often quoted in WSJ, FT, and NY Times for his expertise in video games globally.

Hasan Tevfik

Investment Strategist

Hasan Tevfik joined MST in 2018 as the Investment Strategist based in Sydney. He is part of a team that concentrates on broader themes within financial markets and their implications for investors. He has previously worked as a Australian, European and Global Equity Strategist, with Credit Suisse and Citigroup in Sydney and London. Hasan has more than 20 years' experience in the investment industry and started as a junior investment analyst just before the Asian crisis in 1997. He holds a Bachelor of Economics (First Class Hons) from La Trobe University and is a CFA charter holder.

Keith Chau

Basic Industrials Analyst

Keith has had 13 years Equity Research covering Building Materials, Chemicals, Packaging and Steel sectors. Keith joined MST in July 2019 after 3 years at Evans & Partners, and prior to that, 8 years at J.P. Morgan. At J.P. Morgan, he was an Executive Director in the Equities Research team, and held lead coverage of the Building Materials, Chemicals, Packaging and Steel sectors. Prior to that, he spent 3 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Corporate Finance and Valuation & Strategy team. Keith graduated from the University of Otago in New Zealand with a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance Major; Economics Minor) and bachelor of Science (Pharmacology Major).

Saul Kavonic

Energy Analyst

Saul has been in the energy sector for over 15 years. Prior to joining MST in 2024, Saul was the Head of Energy and Resources Equity Research at Credit Suisse for over 5 years, covering the energy, bulk miners and green metals sectors. He frequently presents at leading industry conferences in the region, is the top ranked energy analyst in Australia according to industry surveys, and is a regular gas and energy commentator in print and broadcast media. Saul has previously worked in the energy sector in commercial, research and government policy roles. He has worked in commercial and strategy roles at Woodside Energy, Australia’s largest oil and gas company, and was the principal analyst in Australasia for Wood Mackenzie, the world’s leading energy consultancy. He has also worked at M.H.Carnegie & Co, one of Australia’s largest Venture Capital funds, and has worked in economic development policy roles for the United Nations and African Union Commission. Saul is a member of the industry advisory board for the University of Western Australia Oceans Graduate School and a co-founder of Refugees Welcome Australia. Saul holds degrees in Law (Honours) and Chemical Engineering (Honours) from the University of Melbourne.

Brian Johnson

Senior Research Analyst

Brian Johnson has over 36 years of experience and was previously the Head of Bank Equity Analysis Australia at Jefferies, and prior to that CLSA, JP Morgan and Macquarie Bank before joining MST Financial as a Senior Research Analyst covering the Banks sector. He has extensive experience and brings with him a wealth of knowledge.

Rohan Sundram

Gaming and Contractors Analyst

Rohan has twelve years of experience in equities research, including three years at Citi where he achieved a number one ranking in the 2017 Peter Lee survey for Gaming sector coverage and number two ranking for Engineers and Contractors coverage. Prior to Citi, Rohan spent four years at UBS where was part of the top two ranked Gaming and Engineers and Contractors research teams. Prior to UBS, Rohan spent almost 5 years at Austock Securities where he covered a range of sectors including Gaming, REITS and various small to mid-cap industrials. Before his equities career, Rohan had over seven years of experience across the banking and insurance industries. Rohan has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment and has completed the CFA program.

Lafitani Sotiriou

Lafitani is a Diversified Financial, Fintech, and Emerging Growth analyst. He began his analyst career at Southern Cross Equities but went on to work at Bell Potter for over a decade. Prior to this, Lafitani held a variety of roles at JPMorgan, Perpetual and CBA. Lafitani holds a Masters in Commerce (UNSW) majoring in Business Strategy, with a Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance at FINSIA, and is a Graduate of the AICD Director's Course.

Scott Hudson

Emerging Companies Analyst

Scott has fifteen years of experience in equities research, across both global and Australian markets. Scott spent 9 years at CLSA before joining MST in 2019 initially as a basic materials analyst (2010-2016), but more recently as Head of the Small Cap equity research team (2016-2019). Prior to that Scott was an analyst at Citibank in Sydney and Morgan Stanley in London, where he covered a range of basic materials stocks. During his time at CLSA Scott achieved multiple number one rankings in the annual Asiamoney Brokers poll across both Industrial (2014 & 2015) and Small Cap sectors (2017 & 2018). Scott is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has a Bachelor of Accounting from Rhodes University in South Africa.

Matthew Frydman

Emerging Companies Analyst

Matthew is a Metals and Mining analyst. He has been covering the sector since 2016, firstly at Deutsche Bank and more recently Goldman Sachs. Prior to this, Matthew spent nearly a decade in the mining industry as a Mining Engineer working in a variety of roles for global mining majors Rio Tinto and Glencore. Matthew holds an MBA from the AGSM (UNSW), and a Bachelor of Mining Engineering.

Jonathan Wilmont is head of Global Strategy and has over 40 years’ experience analysing financial markets, including 30 years with Credit Suisse as Chief Global Strategist for the Investment Bank and Head of Macro Investment in the UK Asset Management Business.

David Hewitt

With 30+ years experience both in industry and banking David brings unique insight into the energy sector for MST clients. He worked for Texaco/Caltex/Chevron for 18 years, including 5 years on the North West Shelf and Gorgon LNG Projects in a senior commercial role. David then moved into finance as a sell-side Oil and Gas Analyst and has continuously written & published Global Macro LNG and crude oil reports for the last 14 years. David has served as the Regional Head (Asia) at CLSA, the Global Head at Credit Suisse and latterly the European Head of Oil and Gas Research at Macquarie. As well as producing macro analysis David has covered oil and gas stocks in Japan, China, India, Australia (with Mark Samter) and the Global Super-Majors. David is a regular speaker at high profile industry conferences and contributes to both print and broadcast media.

The group is headed by Tom Lee who has been a top-ranked US Strategist since 1998 and just before founding FundStrat was Chief Equity Strategist at JP Morgan. MacroPolicy Perspectives is an independent US economics research firm based in New York, and has a partnership arrangement with MST Marquee. Julia Coronado is the chief economist with extensive experience in both policy making and financial markets. She has a PhD in Economics from the University of Texas and more than a decade of experience as a financial market economist serving as Chief Economist for Graham Capital Management and BNP Paribas, a Senior Economist at Barclays Capital and the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington D.C where she regularly briefed the Board, contributed to the FOMC forecasts and represented the Federal Reserve at meetings of the OECD’s Committee on Financial Markets.
